Winter Fun in Calgary Lake Communities

Calgary lake communities are bustling with activity during the summer months, you would think that come winter, everyone would hunker down and hibernate. That couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, some of these neighbourhoods are busier than ever in the colder season.

If you're looking for things to do, in the upcoming months and holiday season, there is plenty going on.

Arbour Lake

Light the Night: November 28, 6:30 pm

Kids Christmas Party: December 6, 1:00 to 3:00 pm SOLD OUT!

Best Decorated House Contest: December 17, 7:00 pm

Winter Programs: Assortment of winter programs including skating, curling, kids ice fishing, figure skating, hockey basics, pond hockey and power skating.

North Pole Express - Letters to Santa: Saturday, December 13 take your letters to Santa to the Auburn House for forwarding to the big guy.

Light Up Mahogany Competition: December 1 to 31 - Mahogany will be a shining star in Calgary with both a Playhouse and Home Light Display contest.

  • Playhouse - Decorate your playhouse with lights and Christmas items (LED or solar lights recommended) and take down to the West Beach for display as Mahogany creates a magical Christmas village.
  • Residential Light Display - Decorate your home, but be sure to submit a registration form to be considered for one of the prizes.

Parade of Lights: December 14: Enjoy the Christmas decorating efforts of all your neighbours with a tour of the community by horse drawn wagon with caroling and a visit from Santa. Outdoor games, street hockey and refreshments will also be available.
