Check Out What's Hot For Interior Wall Colours in 20142014 popular home colours

When it comes to giving those inside walls a new look now that winter's winding down, purple appears to be the colour of 2014. Radiant Orchid, to be specific. Yellow and blue are also going to be quite popular this year. Now these colours won't be for everyone, but they sure do stand out as people use colours to help disconnect from the technological world of today and get back to the beauty of art and nature.

In addition, statement walls and walls with handpainted murals, are also going to stay popular in 2014. You might want to try something a little different as well. The experts are saying painting the trim and wall the exact same colour is going to make a splash in 2014. This creates a sense of more space and takes away contrast. And, according to design authority Pantone, colors such as Green Flash, Lemon Zest, Nectarine and Rouge Red will be popular this year as well.

When it comes to kitchens (the No. 1 upgrade that will give your home value when you sell it), a popular look now is white or gray colours, simple countertops with minimalist design and appliances that blend in with the rest of the kitchen, rather than stand out like stainless steel does. Fixtures in both kithens and bathrooms will include more brass than in previous years. Also go with brass when it comes to door handles and lighting.

Exterior Paint Trends

When it comes to the outside of your home, colouring will be going back to the basics. That means a lot of creme and white exteriors, stunning red brick and desert coloured stucco. Wben it comes to trims, choose a darker statement color like dark red on a light blue home or deep gray with a house that's creme coloured, and look for white trim with any kind of darker main exterior colour. Looking for more road appeal; the statement front door will be huge this year. Homeowners are painting their front doors in deep, dark shades of red, bright blues and sleek black. Actually painting a statement door is a super and easy way to update the outside of your house without breaking the bank.
