Housing sales in Calgary are accelerating as confidence in the real estate market continues to grow backed with improving job market, strong economic growth and low mortgage interest rates.
The latest market report by Calgary Home Team showed that sales activity in the city has mounted to 18,676 sold units between January and October of 2012, representing a whopping 16% increase over the same period last year. This number is expected to escalate even further by the end of the year, reaching levels not seen since 2007, as 26,000 units will change hands confirming a trend that will persist in 2013 when additional 500 sold units are anticipated to raise the total residential sales to 26,500, according to the recent forecast from CMHC Calgary Housing
It is no secret to anyone following the real estate market news in Canada that home sales, with few exceptions, were cooling down across the country lately! The recent, most evident plunges in sales activity that were recorded in British Columbia and Ontario, have led the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) in its latest Quarterly Forecast Report to lower its expectations for Canadian home sales this year and the next, while cautioning at the same time that "all real estate is local."
