The Most Popular Calgary MLS Price Points

Everyone talks about average MLS sale prices when it comes to the residential real estate industry as reported by the Calgary Herald.
But some interesting year-end data by the Calgary Real Estate Board recently indicates the most popular price points for the purchase of property in the city in the past year.
In 2011, there were 2,276 single-family sales in the $350,000 to $399,999 category. Total sales for single-family homes was 13,186. That price point represented 17.26 per cent of all sales.
The next most popular price point was $300,000 to $349,999 at 2,138 sales or 16.21 per cent of the total.
In the condominium market, the most popular price point by far was $200,000 to $299,999 where 2,303 sales took place or 42.79 per cent of total sales of 5,382 in 2011.
The next most popular price point was $100,000 to $199,999 where there were 1,132 sales or 21.03 per cent of the total.
For 2011, the average MLS sale price for a single-family home was $466,402 and for condos it was $287,172.
